Late Summer BBQ - The Cool Down

As the night went on, it got darker and darker and we ended up eating by candlelight and sparklers. It's hard to tell from these photos, but dessert was just as spectacular as the first 2 courses. We had a homemade chocolate cake decorated with a lego rock climbing scene and a whale of a fruit salad.

The watermelon whale, which was meticulously carved by SJ, was a throwback to summer Saturdays spent at Whetstone Whales swim meets. Fruit salad from a whale was always served at the concession stand which was often run by our dad.
