Training Update: Rail Trail Run

A typical Sunday morning for us (when we're not racing) starts off with a long run. Today we decided to go flat for the run since it involved some pretty challenging, at least on paper, intervals. Laurel broke out a pair of new Nike LunarEclipse running shoes for the occasion. Since my workout was shorter than Laurel's I hopped on my mountain bike and paced her through her last few intervals. I rode just over 5:20 pace and she stuck to me like glue! My running pace is down to my high school dual meet 3200m speed, but improving with every run.

Bike Ride: The Other Side of the River, Take 2

This 5 hour, 75 mile ride had a lot to offer. Two bridge crossings, a dog chase, a walk down memory lane, and even gluten-free sweets.

Vert: 4,755 ft.  

Weather: mid 40's-mid 50's & WINDY

Nutrition: 1 flask of EFS Kona Mocha gel & 1 water bottle Lemon Lime EFS electrolyte drink

This ride has a little of everything--hills, half-roads, views, a few smashed dream swimming pools, a loop around the jail, etc. What it doesn't have: flats.

Birthday Swim Set

Yesterday was our friend Lino's 40th birthday so I decided to switch up our planned swim workout and do a 40-themed set instead.  The set looked harder than it turned out and it flew by.
